Lama 😭 You touched my gastronomical chords like none.
Be it descriptions of Kunafa,. Karabeej or mutabaqq but what got me the hungriest was The empty plate that is Palestine today. Humanity has failed Gaza and it's children. 😞
Yes, it saddens me that there are not enough ingredients to make even a proper Palestinian meal in Gaza and people are passing out and dying from starvation.
Thank you for this overview of classic Palestinian cuisine and some of the wonderful eateries in the West Bank. My daughter has been planning to make a vegan version of kunafa — we got the shredded pastry, just have to figure out the rest!
Wow that sounds like a great plan. This is an easy recipe to follow (once you substitute with vegan alternatives) and there are subtitles in English: https://youtu.be/MfN4nG0X3tU?feature=shared
Dear Lama, I can feel the love you have for your home, the place, the food, and the people, and also the unspoken grief and suffering between the lines. This must have been so hard to write. But it is important to share and so powerful. Thank you.
Thank you for your support Sabine. The cuisine and its people have survived many difficult times, but now will the people live to continue enjoying their cuisine and traditions?
That question hits hard. What can those of us on the outside do as we witness the suffering of others around the world? There are no easy answers. I hope that supportive comments like mine somehow ease your suffering a tiny bit.
I especially loved hearing about Al-Falaha restaurant. The way you described the old traditional house made me feel so warm. It sounds like the perfect place to enjoy homemade musakhan.
Thank you for writing this and making me feel that I could maybe find a friend in you across several continents between us. I resonate and reflect with this piece so much and I wish we could just sit together talking about culture and politics and sometimes the beauty of it. I hope it happens someday. Thank you so much 🇯🇴🌸standing in solidarity, always
Lama, thank you for writing this! This was a lovely article that explained the delicious and authentic dishes from Palestine.
I resonate deeply with this piece.
Standing in solidarity with 🇵🇸 always.
Thank you!

Palestinian cuisine is the best 👌 🇵🇸
Hopefully you can visit and try it here.
I hope so. And will be my first after Fawda restaurant 😊
Fawda shut down after Covid, but the whole country is فوضى
